Tell me why, you're hangin' around this town
after all, it's only gonna get you down (and that's no good)
I think you need a vacation, maybe some huntin' and some fishin'
some peace and quiet when the day's done
believe me it's a natural addiction.

In the country, I don't ride on the bus
livin' in the country, no worry, no hassle, no fuss.
Let my hair hang down if I want to, sit on the porch, pick some guitar tunes
livin in the country....Hillbilly Blues

(aww play it cowboy)

Livin' in the country, I don't ride on the bus
In the country, no worry, no hassle, no fuss.

Tell me why, you wouldn't wanna live in the woods
after all, it most certainly would do you good (it couldn't hurt anyhow)
out here there's no need for you to worry, there's no need for you to hurry
a hundred miles from the big town, there's always time for a hoe-down.

In the country, I don't ride on the bus (you'd be lucky to even see one out here son)
livin' in the country, no worry, no hassle, no fuss.
Let my hair hang down if I want to, sit on the porch, pick some guitar tunes
livin in the country....Hillbilly Blues

Livin' in the country...Hillbilly...Hillbilly...Hillbilly Blues.

I originally wrote this one awaaaaaay back in 1990. I grew up in the country and then at age 23 bought an old farm house where my band at the time would be able to rehearse.

I recall hanging about one summer day pickin' on the gee-tar and this song just seemed to flow out of me. I think I had the whole thing written in about 30 minutes. Some songs just write themselves, or it's like you are co-creating with an unseen entity...the source. The universe won't do it for you, it'll do it with you.

I used to do this one with the PMB in the 90's and I included it on this album for my good friend Danny Hynes.

I think this song's beauty lies in it's simplicity. - PM
